Cub Scouts

The Cub Scouts allow young boys to grow and be successful in life through: character development, spiritual growth, good citizenship, sportsmanship, fitness, family understanding, personal achievements and community service.

The Cub Scout Pack 99 at The Academy of Our Lady of Peace is open to all interested boys. Pack 99 is made up of the following Dens:
  • Tiger Den - for boys in 1st grade (an adult Partner is required for every meeting; the partner can be a parent, grandparent, or other adult over the age of 18)
  • Wolf Den - for boys in 2nd grade
  • Bear Den - for boys in 3rd grade
  • Webelos - for boys in 4th - 5th grade
  • Boy Scouts - for boys in grade 6 and beyond
The Cub Scouts meet four times a month. There are two monthly Den meetings. The third meeting is for a special outing called a Go-See-It, and the fourth meeting is the collective Pack meeting, where all the individual dens come together. Meetings are specifically designed for boys to earn Achievements throughout the Cub Scout calendar year, September through early June. Meeting times and locations are determined by individual Den Leaders. The boys are required to have a Cub Scout uniform. The Cub Scout uniform is worn on Scout Tuesdays, at all Den meetings, all Go-See-It outings, and at the monthly Pack meeting.

There is an annual registration fee of $10 (pro-rated) in addition to monthly den dues.

The dens are led by trained volunteers, usually, parents. (Please note that if no one volunteers to be the Leader of a den, then it is not available for that grade.)

Pack 99 is committed to community service and tries to make that a priority. The boys work on community service projects as individuals, through the dens, and collectively as a Pack.

Cub Scouts affords the boys of our school opportunities for hiking, crafts, cooking, exploration, and field trips, in addition to community service.

For more information, please contact Pack 99’s Cubmaster, Mrs. Maggie Reilly.

Girl Scouts

The Girl Scouts are dedicated to helping all girls everywhere build character and gain skills for success in the real world. In an accepting and nurturing environment, and in partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop strong values, leadership skills, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth that will serve them all their lives.

Girl Scouting at The Academy of Our Lady of Peace is open to all interested girls. Troops are available as follows:
  • Daisy Troops - for girls in kindergarten and grade 1
  • Brownie Troops - for girls in grades 2 and 3
  • Junior Troops for girls in grades 4, 5 and 6.
  • Cadette Troops - open to girls in grades 7 and 8

In past years we have had many Senior Scouts earn Gold award; the highest award given in Girl Scouts! Two went on to earn Congressional Gold Awards.

Most troops meet once or twice a month after school from 3-4:00 or 4:30 PM with additional times and days for special outings. Meetings are generally held in the school cafeteria and Parish Hall. Scout uniforms are not mandatory but most girls choose to wear them. There is a $12 registration fee and most troops charge $25 annual dues. Girl Scouts is opened to all interested girls. The troops are lead by trained volunteers, generally the parents. If no one volunteers to be the leader a troop is not available for that grade but a girl may register independently.

Our troops are committed to community service and try to make that a priority. Girls work on ongoing projects as individuals, troops, and the entire school. Most troops earn their Catholic Religion Recognition Awards offered at different age levels by the Archdiocese of Newark. There are also opportunities for hiking, crafts, cooking, scientific exploration and field trips. We are always interested in new projects and welcome suggestions from girls and parents. The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Girl Scouts provide life long skills, memories, and fun!
