Weather conditions, the loss of utilities of other emergencies may cause The Academy of Our Lady of Peace to evoke emergency procedures. Absolutely critical to this plan is communication and the cooperation of parents. The primary goal of these plans is to ensure the safety of all students. We will never leave a child unattended. We offer a three-tier system to ensure rapid and comprehensive communications.
It is imperative that you keep emergency notification information up-to-date and accurate. If you need to update your emergency notification information, please contact the School secretary at Info@TheAcademyOLP.org.
Parents are welcome to review our comprehensive crisis plan which is on file at the Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Newark, the New Providence office of Emergency Management and the Church Rectory.
Communication Plan
Emergency Phone Chain
This emergency phone chain will operate in the same manner as the phone chain that is used to notify families of weather-related closings. Unlike the regular phone chain, for the Emergency Phone Chain we are asking you to provide us with a phone number where a family member can be reached during the middle of the school day. This number may be your home number, your office number, or a cell phone. Each family will receive ONE call to one number. Please ensure that the number you provide has voice mail or an answering machine in case you miss the call.
Emergency EMAIL System
Email will provide rapid notification to multiple addresses simultaneously. Each family may specify up to 3 addresses to be contacted in an emergency. These addresses could include you home email, work email or the email of a family member or neighbor who might know your whereabouts and are authorized to pick-up your child in an emergency.
The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Web site
The school has it’s own web site. In the event that the Emergency Communication Plan is activated, information will be posted to the site. You may view this site remotely for updates and related information. Emergency information will be provided on the home page of the school site. Please bookmark the Home page for emergency reference
(http://www.TheAcademyOLP.org).
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL!
The school administration will be occupied seeing to the safety and welfare of the students, calls to the school will take away from that primary mission. Calls to the school will also needlessly tie up phone lines that need to be kept clear for emergency instructions from local authorities. When new information is known, it will be communicated to you through the above channels.
