TRACK AND FIELD MEET INFORMATION 2013: 34th Annual Holy Trinity Invitational Track and Field Meet
Sunday, May 19, 2013
Westfield High School's Kehler Stadium, Rahway Ave., Westfield
The Meet is still ON despite the rainy
forecast!
Attention Track Families-
Our last Meet is this Sunday, May
19th at Kehler Stadium located in Westfield on Rahway Ave. The first race
(1600m) will stage at 12:00pm. Field events begin at Noon also.
We would like Grade 3-8 athletes
to show up at 11:15pm to receive their stickers needed for competition. Please
note that the Kindergarten- Grade 2 200m Fun Run will take place at 1:15pm. These runners should arrive around 12:45pm to prepare
for staging of that event. Softball throw for grades K to 2 is available. Please
let Mr. G or Mrs. Raleigh know if your child will compete. See below.
Here are the particulars: • Only athletes and coaches are allowed on the infield/track area. Athletes
waiting for their event should wait in our tent area with their parents until
they are called. Please sit with other team members. • Athletes are restricted to three events + a relay. Mr. G will have a board
showing each athlete and their races/field events. Please DO NOT change that
assignment without talking to him. • No food or drink allowed on the infield/track area.
• There will be a concession stand open. Bring plenty of water. • We will have a blue tent that day as our home base. •
The meet requires 3 Volunteers – We can use your help! Please let us know.
Please keep in mind that there are many schools represented and hundreds of
runners, so please stay together so that we can find our athletes when it is
time to walk them to the staging area for their event. This is crucial and we
need your cooperation.
** It is very likely that your child(ren) will be in 3 events + a relay. Please
make sure you notify us if your child is arriving late or leaving early. This is

Academy Panthers Hit the Course Running in
Cross Country 2011
This fall twenty students from Grades 3 to 8 joined the Academy’s Cross
Country Team and participated in four meets, each time coming home with
several medals. The meets in October and November were hosted by Our Lady of
Sorrows, Holy Trinity, St. Elizabeth’s Bernardsville and Assumption School.
At each of these meets Academy runners placed in the top 15 - bringing home
an average of 6 medals each time. The boys and girls are scored separately
as well as by grade (3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th.)
The distances increase for the older grades starting at .75 miles for 3rd
and 4th graders to 1.6 miles for 7th and 8th graders.
We are very proud of the Cross Country team for their hard work and
dedication. It is not easy to run these longer distances with so many other
children jockeying for position as well as the tougher terrain they had to
navigate. We look forward to another successful track season next fall! Go
Panthers!
Academy Panther Volleyball Continues to Grow and Roar
Once again a very enthusiastic and large number (41 to be exact) of Academy
Middle School students came out for volleyball this past fall. This year was
the first year that we joined the GIL League and we also formed an
Intramural team both consisting of mixed boys and girls’ varsity and junior
varsity players.
The GIL League was made up of eight Catholic elementary schools from the
Archdiocese of Newark. There were 16 games scheduled in the short season but
the Panthers persevered and made it to the League's Final Four after beating
Our Lady of Sorrows 2 games to none at their South Orange gym in the
quarter-finals. The Panthers then had to play the number one seeded St.
Joe's squad in the semi-finals at the Mount St. Dominic’s gymnasium in
Caldwell on Saturday, November 12th. Unfortunately, a nervous start in Game
1 and a better-played Game 2 was not enough to beat St. Joe’s which went on
to win the Championship match against Good Shepherd Academy of Irvington.
The Academy Panthers finished the season (including playoffs) with a record
of 9 wins and 7 losses. Their improvement throughout the season speaks to
their spirit and character. The coaches, Mr. Gargiulo and Mrs. Raleigh, once
again want to congratulate them on their hard work and dedication.
The Intramural team played against St. Elizabeth’s of Bernardsville,
Morristown’s Assumption School and St. Patrick’s of Chatham. Our athletes
came a long way from their first game at Assumption. The parents and
coaches, Mr. Gargiulo and Mrs. Raleigh, enjoyed watching the team improve
tremendously and ended the season with two victories against St. Patrick’s
in a very decisive way. We are very proud of their success and look forward
to a successful season next year.
In closing, the coaches also want to thank the parents of the Intramural and
GIL volleyball teams for their support, their endless driving to games and
their attendance at our matches. We look forward to some more great
volleyball next year!
